I was trawling around on Youtube and came across this song, which I remembered hearing in that Tom Hanks movie, Philadelphia, and was all, OMG MUST MAKE VID. I made this vid to look like a home movie in parts (which is why the download is so big - the filters take up a lot of space), because I wanted to capture the idea of Wilson reminiscing on his relationship with Amber. I also edited the song a fair bit to take the focus away from 'Philadelphia' and onto the theme of the vid more. Huge thanks to

euclase for uploading the song to me! 'Cos I don't know where I would've got it, otherwise.

And... I may have cried a bit while making this vid. Because guh, the season finale. And Wilson. And Amber. And guhhh. I am still grieving a bit, lol.

I hate you for making me sadder than I already am.

But it's lovely, and the home movie effect creates this nostalgic feel that intensifies the pain even more. Poor Wilson. :(

Nostalgic was definitely what I wanted to create. That idea of longing and knowing you can never go back to it and aching for it so much because you miss it. That was the emotion I was definitely trying to evoke.

Ticcy Ticcy Ticcy.

You kill me with this. Because my girlfriend and I have been a wreck since this episode aired (actually since "House's Head" aired) because it made us think about something happening to each other. And just personal reasons identifying with Wilson and Amber in those episodes. And I was making her a mix, just an "I love you" mix, and this song was on it. Even though we have no connection to Philadelphia, just because the song is beautiful and expressive, IDK. And it's not a song most people would think of as a love song, so to see you use it in this way literally made us cry.

I know it's just a show and everything, but gah. "Wilson's Heart" hasn't affected me as much as anything I've seen in TV or film since "Band of Brothers."

I always find it so odd how movies or TV are almost always the things that remind us that life is fragile.

Oh man. Philadelphia is such a powerful song. It's not strictly a love song, not strictly a song about death, not strictly a song about any one thing in particular. But it sure does touch the emotions deeply. I was actually going to use Tears In Heaven originally but that didn't seem like enough, you know? Not the kind of mood and emotion I wanted to convey. Philadelphia, though, was it.

Yeah, the episode really affected a lot of people. It's so weird to see the whole fandom reeling from it. :-( Thanks for watching the vid - and that's so sweet to make an 'I love you' mix for your girl. ♥

I didn't even get a minute into this before I was just bawling. I cried just as hard as I did during the finale. That song... I'd completely forgotten about that song. It's been so long since I last saw Philadelphia, but as soon as I heard the opening, it brought back all the emotions I felt after seeing that movie for the first time. And paired with the images of Wilson and Amber... I kind of lost it.

This was so beautiful, and so devastating. It is absolutely my new favorite vid of yours.

Lovely, my dear. I find it really interesting how hot the new bed sex is when you slow it down and take out the odd panting. The transition between the young happy Wilson and the mourning Wilson was heart breaking. God I'm going to miss her as much as Wilson.

Lmao, the panting was a bit odd. I think that was RSL's way of trying to do hot sex? Lololol. Idk what it was. But yeah, slowed down, the bedroom scene is hot and very tender. The way he kisses her, when slowed down, is really gentle and meaningful.

ohhhh, that song. That song makes me cry just to hear it. Added to Wilson and Amber? DDDDDD:

Sobbing. Again. Your vids persist on doing this to me. I suddenly -- I don't know. It's like for one minute I suddenly understood with perfect clarity what Wilson's expression felt like when he finds the note. Everything seemed to build to that moment and it was perfect and soul destroying and lovely.

I love the way you trasitioned between past and present with the clips. The moment that set me off? When Wilson's smile from DIYD bled into the shattered look as he watches House. Coupled with the lyrics -- those just seem like such simpler, happier times and ohh, how I long for those. Also, I never realised how tender the kiss Wilson gives to Amber in bed really is. Slowed down like that it suddenly became heartwrenching and meaningful. And then faded into the kiss Wilson gives Amber right before she dies, that same sort of tenderness... Oh.

You also did an AMAZING job re-creating the home video look. And that shot of Amber looking peaceful, fading into white? I smiled then and somehow that made me cry more.

Really, really amazing. I'm babbling but honestly, this vid really touched me. It's grief. Right there. Yes!! That is so what I wanted to do. Convey the vid in a way that it causes empathy. Because, seriously, nothing makes us more empathic with something than nostalgia because we all are nostalgic for something and know what that aching, longing feeling for something you can never have again feels like. Which was why I chose to use home video style for the happy days of Wilson and Amber.

That's exactly what I mean in my previous point, yeah. Man, life so wasn't simple back in season one for them, but it was in comparison to where they are now. Guh guh guh.

I never realised either, actually, until I slowed the footage down for the vid! Lol that whole scene when watched normally is so odd, with the weird panting sounds Wilson makes (is that RSL's way of trying to sound turned on? Lmao). But yeah, slowed down, it really changes the point and focus of the kiss because you can see how tenderly he actually kisses her, with his hand on her cheek and his eyes closed, like he really, really loves her. dakfjhlkdfg asklgjhaldfgdg WHY DID SHE HAVE TO DIE? WAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

That whole bit there makes me so happy because that is totally what I wanted to convey and totally what I had in mind when making this. I guess in a way I was pouring my own experiences with grief into the vid, too, so for me there is a lot of empathy in it. Because how you described it is exactly what grief is like.

Ticcy, you have outdone yourself. The "old" film footage look is such a great technique and makes those sequences ever sadder than they would have been without it. Wonderful choice to use the DIYD silly footage for the "friends" and "boys and girls" moment.

Seriously, seriously. This is a vid that I didn't want to finish. Like, I wanted to just keep making more 'home movies' footage because dkljahdlgkadf. And yeah, the DIYD footage - I wanted to make a huge contrast between what life was like when things were simpler and what life is like now for Wilson - and House and Cuddy. And man, do those days seem so much simpler and how much I long for those days again, if only for Wilson, House and Cuddy's sakes.

I don't blame you for crying when you made this; I cried a bit watching it. You've got some very powerful feelings in a small little package, and you handled it beautifully.

Thank you so much. Usually with vids, I get to a point where I want it to come to an end because I get frustrated with the editing process. But this vid, I just wanted it to keep going and going. I wanted to capture EVERY moment of Amber with Wilson. But I also knew if I did that, it would become overwrought, lol. But gah. I really enjoyed making this vid so much. I got so emotionally invested in it and in the story I wanted it to tell.

Oh man, that was so beautiful. Such a perfect song - I love the entire soundtrack for that movie - and so brilliantly edited to the visuals. The home movie filter was amazing and so heartbreaking and the fade from DIYD into the ICU look was inspired. And I'm going to run out of superlatives! Damn, Robert Sean Leonard cries well.

Oh seriously - the soundtrack of Philadelphia is just amazing. That scene where Andrew (Tom Hanks) is describing the Maria Callas aria, La Mamma Morta, to Miller (Washington) is just spellbinding. One of the most amazing moments in cinema, I thought. That final scene never fails to make me into a mess and that's partly due to the song. And yeah, I thought it just fitted Wilson's story so much with what happened to Amber (even though I edited the hell out of the song, lol).

Doesn't he just? He and Hugh Laurie both. They do tears in a really believable and poignant way.

Yeah, I used the song as inspiration. I only have to hear that song and I'm on the verge of being a wreck, so it was pretty easy to just let the emotions guide me with making the vid, lol. I was already devastated enough with what happened in the episode D: And yeah, I do love the characters, I really do. It's weird how we get so emotionally attached to fictional characters, as though they're real to us.
