summary: House and Cuddy have been in a relationship for a while that begins to break down with a lot of fighting and heartache, and Cuddy is caught between wanting to end it because she thinks maybe it's for the best, and wanting to put things right between her and House again.

notes: Vidding kick much? Lol. I'll stop spamming with vids... eventually. XD I already vidded a Bic Runga song, Sway, but I heard this song, Drive by her after downloading her album of the same name and wanted to vid it. I made this with cuddys_house in mind, though it isn't fully based on anything that's happened there so far.

commentary:

[0;07] They've had one of their many arguments and Cuddy has come around to House's place to put things right, only to end up in another fight when House tries to shut her out.

[0;24] I interpreted 'please don't take me home' in conjunction with the scene I chose to mean Cuddy doesn't want their relationship to end despite how much she can't handle all their fighting, and doesn't want House to walk off on her the way he always does when he can't deal.

[0;28] Cuddy is trying to talk to House again and not getting through to him; "my head so heavy, could this be all a dream?" - she's just sick and tired of their constant fights.

[0;38 - 0;46] There are times they do get along and they're the moments that confuse Cuddy about whether or not to end it for good with House. "Say things you don't mean" - she sometimes wishes he'd just say sweet nothings instead of constantly battling with her.

[0;53] The transition to a rainy night is supposed to give the idea that a little bit of time has passed - maybe a week or so - and House is being emo in his office because he does actually miss Cuddy. Wilson's in the background, the idea being that Wilson tells him to stop being such a fuckwit and to go and talk to Cuddy like she's a human being for once.

[0;59] And so House does.

[1;10] And Cuddy's not happy to see him because she doesn't want another fight, which she's pretty certain it will turn into.

[1;14] It does turn into another fight. So, Cuddy shuts the door on him and ends up unable to sleep because she can't shake him from her mind.

[1;22] This whole segment focuses on the loving side of House, one of the reasons why Cuddy is having such a hard time trying to break it off with him because she knows that he's capable of being loving just as much as he's capable of being a complete arsehole.

[1;31] They're having another argument. The black and white layer shows them at a happier point in their relationship and it's kind of a turning point for them both because they both miss that. I like how this transition effect turned out. Layers are awesome.

[1;40 - 1;59] Cuddy tries talking to House, again. She can see House is finally showing remorse over his treatment of her and all the hurtful things he'd said during their fights. "Let's not discuss things we can't undo" - Cuddy wants to try and make it work, try and put all their fights behind them, but House ends up saying something that pisses her off and she leaves.

[2;09] House has been doing his own thinking and comes back to her place again, to try and make amends. Cuddy talks to him but she doesn't let him in because she needs time to think. I like the layered transition here.

[2;33 - 2;40] This is Cuddy, thinking and trying to make a decision. I like how this layered transition turned out, too.

[2;42] She finally makes a decision and turns up at House's door to talk about it, and to have make up sex with him make up with him. But unlike the last time she showed up, he lets her in.

VERY pretty video, but OMG angsty. Angst tied up in a nice, velvet black ribbon that's been lying in a gutter in a rainstorm.

But still-- really pretty. I like the little tunnel vision effect.

Was it hard to handle the cuts with such a slow, delicate song, or did the music make that easier?

The layers here were gorgeous and worked very well. There was one cut (shots of their faces on the left side of the frame, hugging from Half-Wit on the right) that I thought was abrupt and a little jarring with the layers, but the rest - OMG, AMAZING. Not too angsty, really. A nice portrayal of them trying to work out problems, not giving up either. (And, I assume we can expect something like this in RP, in which case I will have to get in the mood for some serious angst. Evil woman.) But anyway, I really loved the layers here. Really sad moment when she shuts her door on him. Loved it. =D
