When House gets shot, it stirs up memories of the infarction, and a lot of fears within her that she almost lost House a second time. The vid covers everything from her frustration at him for the way he always shuts her out, to the fights they have, to the brief moments of affection they have for each other.

cuddys_house in mind, too - all the stuff that's going on between House and Cuddy as a result of him getting shot. So, this could be seen as a bit of a companion vid to the game.i never know whether to do a commentary thing or not. commentary, y/n?

commentary:
[0.09 - 1.24] a montage to show the correlation of panic and fear between House getting shot and the infarction. i had lots of fun with sound effects here. i really like how this montage turned out.
[1.32] The timing of this took me ages, and I'm still not happy with it. But it's a good introduction to the song, otoh.
[1.51] Cuddy lost in thought, thinking back over the infarction. And hee, i kinda had to make the hairband snapping in time with the beat, lol.
[1.58] My interpretation of the line "you're the only thing that's right in all I've done" in this video is how important House is to Cuddy, both professionally and personally, and that she'd do anything to save his life - if not try to save him from himself.
[2.36] "light up, light up, as if you have a choice" - i chose the footage of House in the fountain almost smiling because it's a brief glimpse of him 'lighting up', lol. and also because i liked the correlation of him choosing to be happy if he wanted to be. if that makes sense? ie., his smile/choice to be happy
[2.39] the idea that Cuddy is often left on her own when she tries to tell house what to do - he never listens. hence, why i chose this clip here because it's a beautiful shot of cuddy looking completely alone
[2.46] a small montage showing cuddy fighting for house to live, and the idea that she never left his side as his doctor, or as his friend
[3.00] I LOVE THIS SEGMENT. of house and cuddy running, the effects, the correlation between them both. yes. lol.
[~3.07] "i understand why you can't raise your voice to say" - with the clip of cuddy walking away from house and him looking at her. then her facing back to him and hoping one last time that he'll actually talk to her. she understands house won't talk about the things on his mind - the shooting, for example - because, well, he's house.
[3.22] i really like how this segment turned out, the cutting of different angles of the same scene. i was trying to give the idea of them arguing - not fiercely arguing. just frustrated with each other, especially cuddy with house.
[3.28] i love this entire segment. the colouring, the different angles, the way the scenes blend. basically, this whole bit speaks for itself, especially in relation to the lyrics.
[3.45] i like how this blended - i wanted the clip of house saying 'i'm sorry' over the top of cuddy crying in the background. i was trying to give the idea of him not *saying* sorry, but having moment where he genuinely feels guilty/sorry for the things he puts cuddy through and the fact that he doesn't always appreciate her the way she deserves to be. and then she nods, as though to say, "i know, it's okay."
[3.55] this is the part where cuddy tells house, he has the choice to be happier if he would just let himself be. i kind of picture the conversation going, "you've been shot, you've lived through an infarction. can't you at least try to realise that this is the only life you have?" especially with the montage of house suffering through the infarction that then follows this segment.
[4.21] "have heart, my dear" - this is one of those rare moments where house and cuddy actually express the affection they have for each other
also, the other thing i was trying to convey here was like... those smiles she has in that scene. through all the emotions going through her, she's hugging house and is extremely glad to have him with her, but at the same time she's also close to crying. that was the nuance i was aiming for with using those particular clips of her in this segment.
[4.26] but then house goes back to shutting cuddy out, being afraid of facing his demons and facing his feelings for cuddy, and she has to literally force her way into his life. i like the zoom shots on cuddy's face in this segment
[4.34] "making up for all this mess" - those lyrics have a lot of different interpretations. depends on how you want to look at it. either the mess of house getting shot, the mess of his infarction, the mess of his entire life. cuddy wants so much to help him but finds herself butting heads with him all the time, fighting over the bad choices he makes, his stubbornness, everything. i like this segment - it's a build up of tension during a heated argument. lots of focusing on each other's eyes, which is why i did mainly close up shots.
[4.47] these are all the things cuddy wishes she could reverse. to make house's life happier. except she can't. i love how this reverse montage turned out. it was a fucker to do, though - the programme kept freezing up, lol. so i ended up having to leave everything in forward order, then switched it all to reverse when it came to saving the video to my computer.
[5.01] and so, she knows she can't change anything, and that she can't even change house, but she will always be there for him. the different focuses on her face are supposed to give the idea that she really means it when she says she's never going to leave him.
